6 Best Companies To Work For in Arizona

What is one of the best companies to work for in Arizona?

To help Arizonans find the best fit company, we asked Arizona small business owners and leaders this question for their thoughts. From finding a company where you can grow with them to prioritizing company culture, there are several things you should look for when deciding what company is the best fit for you.

Here are six of the best companies to work for in Arizona:

  • Find More Opportunity With a Small Business
  • Align With Company Values
  • Grow With a Startup
  • Feel Good About Your Mission
  • Geek Out in Good Company
  • Prioritize Company Culture

Find More Opportunity With a Small Business

There are a variety of Fortune 500 companies here in Arizona, but I would strongly recommend job seekers also consider smaller, local companies as well. Smaller companies provide candidates with much more responsibility and opportunity for growth. Obviously, this answer is very dependent on industry, but one to consider is Make-A-Wish-Arizona.

Align With Company Values

There are so many amazing companies in Arizona. Having more experience working with direct-hires, contract and project hires in the Tech, Finance, and HR industry, I would have to say “employee voted” best companies that may not have the brand recognition locally like an  American Express or GoDaddy would be Freedom Financial Network, Workiva, Northern Trust and Spear Education, all offering tech and/or finance opportunities. All of these companies have been voted by their employees as a “best place to work” and do an amazing job with work-life balance and diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. With more people working from home and the recent racial tensions, people value companies that value people first.

Grow With a Startup

Arizona certainly has its share of Best Companies to Work For, but what may rank “best” for some may not make the list for others. For some, the perks of a growing tech start-up are exhilarating, but stability and consistency are deemed most important for others. Being named a “Best Company” certainly is an honor for us at Markitors (shameless plug), but we know we have a lot of continued work to create an environment where people love what they do, connect to the mission, and have fun while doing it.

Feel Good About Your Mission

The Ronald McDonald House of Southern Arizona has higher-than-average employee ratings for a nonprofit. The organization’s mission, to provide housing and hospitality to the families of critically ill children, gives staff a sense of meaningful work and satisfaction. The clientele tends to be grateful for the services rendered and thank the staff from the bottom of their hearts. Even entry-level workers can feel as if their work contributes to an invaluable cause. While pay in the nonprofit sector may be modest, workers at The Ronald McDonald House make real human connections and instantly see the effects of their efforts.

Geek Out in Good Company

Want to work somewhere that you can let your geek flag fly? That place is the University of Advancing Technology! Although it is a university, the 100% STEM focus makes it a great place for a tech-driven career that is growing and changing with the times. From former rocket scientists to cyber sleuths, there are brilliant people working for a common purpose—to provide top-notch tech education.

Prioritize Company Culture

My favorite part about working for a small business is the dynamic environment and the ability to work closely with senior leadership! Arizona is home to a plethora of small businesses that are known for being a best place to work. Specifically, SmartRent is an up-and-coming smart home automation company in the valley known for its “family” working environment. SmartRent is also known for its inclusive environment and promoting a healthy work-life balance.
